Christina L. Beharry is a Partner in Foley Hoag\u2019s International Litigation and Arbitration Department in Washington, D.C.\u00a0 Her practice focuses on public international law, international investment and commercial arbitration, and trade and investment policy. She has represented clients across the globe in more than 30 disputes before major international arbitral fora involving various industries including mining, oil and gas, renewable energy, real estate, chemical manufacturing, postal services, agriculture, forestry, healthcare, telecommunications, and tobacco. Ms. Beharry also provides counsel to sovereign clients on the re-negotiation of bilateral investment treaties and delivers training seminars to government officials on defending against foreign investment claims.<\/p>

Prior to joining Foley Hoag, she practiced in the Trade Law Bureau (JLT) of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) in Ottawa. In this capacity, Ms. Beharry represented the Government of Canada in investor-State disputes brought under NAFTA Chapter 11 and assisted in the negotiation of bilateral investment treaties with other countries. Prior to joining DFAIT, Ms. Beharry worked at Industry Canada where she contributed to the development and drafting of new legislation on corporate governance, bankruptcy, and foreign direct investment.<\/p>

Ms. Beharry regularly speaks at conferences and publishes on a variety of international law topics including her book Contemporary and Emerging Issues on the Law of Damages and Valuation in International Investment Arbitration<\/em> (Brill Nijhoff, 2018).
