J.P. is a globally recognized international arbitration practitioner who handles all aspects of the international arbitration life cycle, from strategic clause drafting, to lead merits counsel, through award enforcement. He has represented clients across a range of industries in international arbitrations conducted under the ICC, AAA/ICDR, LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC, DIAC, JAMS, GAFTA, ICSID and UNCITRAL rules in the U.S., Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America. Additionally, J.P. handles arbitration-related litigation, such as judicial interim relief applications, award enforcement, and 1782 actions, and routinely sits as an arbitrator in commercial disputes. J.P. is listed on the arbitrator rosters of most arbitral institutions, including specialized panels like the AAA-ICDR Life Sciences panel.
J.P. has substantial emerging market dispute resolution experience, and previously practiced as a foreign legal consultant in the Dubai office of an international law firm. His international arbitration practice has a strong geographic focus on the MENA region, the Indian sub-continent, Sub-Saharan Africa, and East Asia, as well as a particular emphasis on the life sciences, defense, technology, and franchising sectors. J.P. is qualified in New York, England & Wales, and Part II of the DIFC Courts, and served as a law clerk to the Hon. Thomas C. Platt in the Eastern District of New York before entering private practice.
