Hon. Andrew D. Hurwitz is a Judge with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He was nominated to the Ninth Circuit by President Barack Obama in 2011 and confirmed by the Senate in 2012.
Prior to his time on the Ninth Circuit, Judge Hurwitz served as a Justice (2003 – 2009) and Vice Chief Justice (2009 – 2012) of the Arizona Supreme Court. He is also a long-time member of the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law faculty, where he teaches a course on federal courts. His distinguished career includes serving as President of the Arizona Board of Regents and as Chief of Staff for two Arizona governors.
Judge Hurwitz earned his bachelor’s degree in public and international affairs from Princeton University (1968) and his Juris Doctorate from Yale Law School (1972).
