Ucheora Onwuamaegbu, PhD, is an international arbitrator and attorney with Arent Fox in Washington, DC. In 2019, Ucheora earned a PhD in International Law from King’s College, London, where he researched The Case for Tailor-Made Remedies in Investor-State Arbitration and a Mechanism to Implement Them. For more than a decade, he served as Senior Counsel for the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Prior to his tenure at the World Bank, Ucheora was a lawyer at the United Nations Compensation Commission in Geneva, Switzerland and had a private practice in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Ucheora’s current practice focuses on international investment arbitration, commercial disputes, and advisory services. He advises the State of Kuwait’s multi-billion dollar National Focal Point for Environmental Remediation. Ucheora is on the Panel of Arbitrators for ICSID and various other arbitration institutions around the world. He has also served as arbitrator in disputes before ICSID, the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.
